HIV/AIDS

Janpriya Sewa Sansthan worked in HIV/AIDS domain through Targeted Intervention (TI) Project funded by Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (UPSACS). It worked with 315 CSWs and 210 IDUs in the district.

The project intervention was able to change the mindset of vulnerable population, stakeholders and community, reached by the organisation. Now CSWs and IDUs are more confident and there is a decline in the mentality of fear, shame and disgust. They came out for social and community level interaction and discussion on high risk behaviour.

While implementing the project activities, it was experienced that CSWs were not ready to shift from sex work as they were totally associated with high risk behaviour for income generation and personal relationship. But they were in need of information through which they could reduce the health problems and hazards.
